Grimsby Minster, one of the largest parish churches in England, dominates the town centre, and neighbouring Cleethorpes provides the seaside resort element of the wider urban area with its long beach, pier and promenade.

Grimsby sits at the end of the A180, linking to the M180 and the wider motorway network, with Grimsby Town station offering services to Doncaster, Sheffield, Lincoln and Manchester Airport. The Humber Bridge connects to Hull and the East Riding to the north. The town takes in Cleethorpes, Waltham, Scartho, Laceby, Healing, Nunsthorpe, Grange and Weelsby, with Immingham's massive port complex a few miles up the estuary.
